The
Dinosaurs Are Back and It's All Your Fault Edward!
Wendy Hartmann, et al / School & Library Binding / Published
1997
Children's Books Editor's Recommended Book, 08/01/97
When a book is dedicated "for my brothers Derek and Christopher,
who came with the terror-tory" it's a good bet there's some fun
to follow.
Edward has hidden a rock under his bed, and his brother(who must
have read The Enormous Egg) terrorizes
him with a set of suppositions: What if that rock were really
a dinosaur egg? What if it hatched? What if Edward had to
take care of it? What if the egg's family came to find the baby
and punish its eggnapper? What if Edward turned the tables on
his brother?
(This book is recommended for ages 6-9, although no one older
will mind an excuse to read it aloud to a young listener.)
The
Enormous Egg by Oliver Butterworth, Louise Darling (Illustrator),
Louis Darling.

Customer comment
The most memorable book I have ever read. Excellent!!!
I first read this book when I was in the third grade. I loved it
then because I was into dinosaurs in a big way. The story
line is easy to follow and makes for fascinating reading for the
author has captured your interest from the first page. I recently
went to the library and found this book for my 8 year old daughter
so she too could enjoy this book and use her imagination to be there
when the dino tips over the truck in washington dc, finally hatches
after all the waiting or eats almost all the grass in the
county. I re-read this book and enjoyed it as much as the first
time. On a scale of 1 - 10, I give it an 11!!!!

In this wordless fantasy, told through spectacular, detailed paintings,
a bird flies into a shadowy museum hall of dinosaur skeletons and
returns to the time when the dinosaurs lived. The fascinating
idea behind the story -- that birds are descended from dinosaurs
-- is mentioned only on the book jacket; but, even without knowing
all the facts, readers will thrill to see the bird's close-up encounters
with the great beasts. -- Copyright © 1994 The Horn Book, Inc.
